Starting May 1, 2019, we'll be encouraging anyone interested in plants, magic or spirituality to participate in the 30 Day Plant Spirit Ally Challenge.
A plant spirit ally is a sort of green spirit guide and botanical best friend rolled up into one. The challenge is designed to get you interacting with plants in a new way: as friends and allies rather than as ingredients and supplies. It's also designed to showcase how gratifying it is to work deeply with local plants for your medicine, magic, and spiritual practice. So we challenge you to work intensively with one plant spirit ally for 30 days, doing a range of activities from meditating and dreaming with a plant, to making food and fragrance, to creative writing, and beyond.
There are no set rules to the challenge. While it's set up as a 30 day event, you can take as much time as you need to complete each exercise. You can skip exercises if they don't speak to you. You can make up your own activities if you want. As long as you're getting intimately acquainted with a green spirit, you're doing it right!
But if you want to complete the challenge in 30 days in the company of other magically-minded plant lovers, we encourage you to share posts on social media using #PlantSpiritChallenge so we can all find each other. And if you blog about your experiences with the challenge, be sure to share those on social media using the hashtag as well!
Here is the list of daily activities for the challenge:
And since we want this to be a community-building, enjoyable experience, we've put together some resources to help you along the way.
First, you can download a PDF guide to the challenge, with more details about each activity plus links to articles and videos for further information and inspiration.
Second, you can visit the Plant Spirit Ally Challenge Pinterest Board. The board is organized by day, and it's already loaded with many resources for the challenge. We'll be adding pins to this board throughout the month to help you on your journey.
Third, we've assembled a team of talented co-hosts to post articles throughout the month, giving you even more insight into some of the activities. We'll share links to these posts on the main challenge page as they go up.
Fourth, feel free to download the plant challenge graphic in this post to share on social media or your own blog or website.
Finally, if you have any questions about the challenge, leave a comment or send us a message and we'll do everything we can to help. We're so excited to get started on this challenge with all of you, and we hope you'll play along.
